   Here was a strategy that I did as a hobby investor that made me A FEW DOLLARS!!

   So I was looking at Monster stock. The energy drink company. At the time, I had recently moved into a college town full of annoying fat women and beta males.

   I noticed the men buying monsters at the store, but aside from work settings, I have never seen a man casually drinking an energy drink. My assumption is that they buy them, save them, and drink them as needed. (Like I do.) So every man possibly has a small stock of energy drinks for things like late nights studying, the day after drinking liquor, quick energy for going out to drink liquor.

   I noticed and considered this during mid summer, when I also assumed that energy drinks would be consumed a bit more because they are ice cold instead of hot coffee, so more refreshing.

   So I batted the idea around in my head that there probably are a few yearly trends for things like Monster energy where they get bought more by all of the college men at the same time and therefore stock prices go up shortly after.

   I didn't really come to an actual hard conclusion, but there has to be some kind of trend in there somewhere. I looked for it, and my best assumption is that October and November are probably lower study and lower "Going out" times of years for men, especially with current trends. Men are more likely to be with their families. Then that abruptly ends and they are studying for their mid terms or finals or whatever in December.

   With this strategy, I have made like 20$ of unrealized gains. I bought like 5 stocks or so, so It's not a big investment. This was just something I am experimenting with and keeping. I might buy more. idk.

   I have also determined that Nathan's hotdogs are good to buy in spring, probably, right before the summer hotdog rush. They also have their national hotdog eating championship in July which spikes their stock price. Also consider the reality that basically nobody wants to eat hotdogs once it gets cold outside, and right now, Nathan Stock is lower than it was summer of 2024. It's just a trend I have noticed. I can not guarantee that this is true. I am not a financial advisor.

    What is not BS: Using proper quantitative techniques making probabilistic forecasts which properly account for uncertainty in your estimates and data.

    You don't need to believe me. Our institutional investors do when they receive decent returns with a solid risk management foundation underneath it all.

    In my opinion and experience most of these technical patterns don’t work in the long run. Yes, they may work a few times. Can you use them every day or every week for a few years? NO. I am talking about the candle patterns, such as if there is a 2 reds and 3 green then this happens kind of BS. But, some indicators such as MACD, EMA, etc. are quite accurate. That doesn’t mean 100%, but 60-70% means acceptable. Having said that, these patterns can be self fulfilling prophecies. More people know them, more people follow them, they become more predictable. I think the market makers created the technical patterns to serve that purpose – control the behaviour of the clueless retail traders, so they can set traps and make more profit

    I only found only one technical strategy that works over a 5 year period and even that has to be periodically adjusted. Everything else does not even come close to buy and hold..

    You forgot about leverage or trading on margin. If you can leverage up by trading on margin, then you dont need to outperform a buy and hold strategy. You make lots of profit in absolute terms…

    I find it very funny that you think technical analysis is soooo mysterious. What causes TA to work, is simply when a lot of the traders of a certain stock are buying and selling using TA. This happens most often with low float, low priced stocks that have had a catalyst. Lots of retail traders are all tending to buy when they see the same bullish signals and all tending to sell when they see the same bearish patterns forming and it doesn't happen as often with large caps to my knowledge. You can't really backtest catalysts. Go look at low float stocks on high relative volume and you will find patterns that you can possibly learn to read to give you a statistical edge over many trades. Yes, Warren Buffet doesn't know everything. It turns out that smart people can be wrong. Lucky for you that you seem to be waking up to the lucrative possibilities.

    Support resistance combined with trendline and market structure is the strategy I use, it works if you are patient enough not to jump into impulsive trades

    The quant funds are inherently all technical analysis, but on a very sophisticated level rather than some random drawings on the chart.
