Ink Jet is a scam. Laser is the cutting edge technology and really good. However, dot matrix is also great especially if you want to print on varied paper sizes.

For handy people: buy a cheap inkjet printer and refill the cartridges with "generic" ink, costs about $10/gallon. The print quality is …. acceptable. But that's really really really cheap.

Great video! I'm 45 years old and I remember having an HP Inkjet when I was a teen and we basically let the printer die because carts were so expensive back then. I learned that mono laser was super cheap and have been using them ever since. Now I see they have these tank printers and this is so amazing. No more having to pay extra for a new print head on every refill to add to the cost. I use Linux exclusively and Brother has amazing Linux support so I am shopping and looking for a brother tank printer now. Not sure yet if I will actually buy one yet but considering it. I only ever print office docs but being able to print custom wall art for my cheap set of picture frames to spruce up my room would be fun.

Get a laser printer and go to a print shop for colour prints.
If you need professional colour printing, then buy commercial grade and enjoy economies of scale beneftis. but often a print centre still makes more sense.

Great video, but one very important factor left out, with the ink tank printers. You absolutely must print at least once a week or you get major clogs in the print head and in the lines feeding the print head Clearing due to the ink drying up. These clogs are a major undertaking and a big hassle, making the ink tank printers not worth the value they seem to have. You can find many videos about this issue, it seems this is a major design defect in the tank printers. I would stay away from them until all this is been resolved.

I don't get why in this day and age we cannot make a good reliable printer? If someone could do that they would corner the market. Don't get the Epson Eco tank I have one and I hate it it dries out the ink all the time and you waste so much ink trying to clean the printheads that there's no way to get the output that they claim! go laser for sure.

I figured out that inkjets were a scam back in the 90's. When cheap laser printers first came out, I ditched my dot matrix for one and have never looked back. Those all in one inkjets are great if you need a scanner though. They know you are going to have to buy tons of expensive cartridges so they highly subsidize the cost of the printer and sometimes throw in a scanner for free. My all in one does sometimes complain about the fact that in 5 years I still haven't taken the cartridges out of the box, but other than that, the scanner part works great!

Paying more upfront can save you money. I get Mighty Tuff Trash Cans. They last ten times as longer then the cheap ones. Had some last 10+ years. Cheap one 4 or 5 tops but just spending more dose not mean better.

Color is a must, so laser or thermal would not be practical for me. I wouldn't just be printing documents, I would also be printing stickers or labels for home crafts or home wine.

Please dont buy the Epson ET 2720. If you are a home based user printer that does print much the ink drys out and it becomes unusable. Then paper feeds all wonky and its unfixable. Never again I wasted my money. One year later I now need to buy a new printer

I’m torn between the Epson Eco Tank and HP laserjet 182dw. I’m a college student and I have labs and tutorials to print sometimes, I print mostly in black and white . I’m considering the eco because of the ink cost but then the ink gets clogged after a while based on the reviews I’ve read. I don’t want it to be that I use for one semester and then end up in problems. I’m considering the HP because of its high yield but the same time the cost of the toner is on the higher end. Help please someone.

Avoid HP, have to pay a monthly subscription and you can't use a third party's products.
