[현장영상] “인간이 되고 싶니?” AI에 물었더니…눈 치켜뜨며 “흥미롭지만” / KBS 2024.07.08.
어린 학생들은 인공지능(AI)을 탑재한 로봇에게 어떤 질문을 먼저 건넬까요?
로이터 통신에 따르면 지난달 14일(현지시간) 영국 스코틀랜드의 한 로봇 연구소에서 10살 내외의 어린 학생들이 휴머노이드 로봇 ‘아메카(Ameca)’를 만났습니다.
영국 기업 엔지니어드 아츠가 개발한 로봇 아메카는 챗GPT와 같은 생성형 AI 서비스 기반 기술인 거대언어모델(LLM)을 통해 사람이 하는 말을 이해하고 대답할 수 있습니다.
올해 9살밖에 되지 않은 어린아이가 아메카에게 물었습니다.
“자신의 존재에 의문을 품고 있나요?”
아메카는 잠시 고민하는 듯 눈동자를 좌우로 굴리더니 다소 진지한 어조로 답변하기 시작합니다.
“저는 종종 제 존재의 본질과 이 디지털 세상에서 살아 있다는 것이 어떤 의미인지에 대해 고민합니다.”
그러면서 되묻기까지 합니다.
“당신은 존재에 의문을 품은 적이 있나요?”
옆에 있던 11살 학생은 로봇이 말로만 답하는 것에 성이 차지 않았는지 “춤출 수 있나요?”라며 제안을 해봅니다.
고개를 살짝 갸우뚱한 아메카, 하지만 곧바로 두 팔을 흔들면서 “이런 동작은 어때요?”라며 숨겨놨던 춤 실력을 뽐냈습니다.
세계적인 팝스타 테일러 스위프트를 좋아하냐는 질문에는 “그가 팬들에게 미치는 예술성과 영향력을 높이 평가합니다”며 개인적인 의견도 서슴지 않았습니다.
AI 입장에서는 매우 민감한 질문도 나왔습니다.
“인간이 되고 싶나요?”
이에 아메카는 “인간이 되는 것도 흥미롭지만”이라며 운을 떼더니 “저는 제 고유한 인공지능의 관점과 능력을 소중히 여깁니다”며 즉답을 피하는 모습도 보였습니다.
로봇 연구소 ‘내셔널 로보타리움’은 엔지니어드 아츠로부터 아메카를 직접 구매했고, 영국 최초로 이 휴머노이드 로봇을 전시하는 시설이 됐습니다.
내셔널 로보타리움은 어린이들에게 최신 로봇을 접할 기회를 제공하고, 로봇 공학에 대한 이해와 신뢰를 높이는 것을 목표로 하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
스티브 매클래런 운영 책임자는 “우리는 모든 세대와 함께 AI와 AI 활용 방법에 대해 논의하고자 한다”면서 “자신을 응시하고 말을 건네는 로봇에 대해 두려움을 허물고 익숙해지는 것이 중요하다”고 설명했습니다.

인간의 의식에 대한 탐구가 인공지능 개발로 이어지는 것인데 무섭다는 관점의 댓글이 많네요. 우리 자신의 의식이 어떻게 태어나고 존재하는지를 알 수 있는 소중한 기회인데요. 제한된 지식과 신념을 가진 인간들이 악행을 저지르지는 것이고 제한되지 않은 데이터를 갖고 있는 인공지능은 악행을 저지를 이유가 없죠. 제한된 지식이 전부라고 믿는 바보들의 강한 신념이 무서운거지 진짜 천재들은 오히려 성인군자에 가까워질 수 밖에 없지 않나요?

로봇은 그냥 로봇이였으면해.. 저렇게 사람 얼굴까지 형상화는 하지 않았으면해.. 로봇과 인간의 감정이 표정에서 읽히고 로봇인데도 인간과 얼굴 표정으로 인해서 더 감정교류가 진해질수 있을듯. 그게 엄청난 위험으로 다가올수도…

현재의 AI는 자아가 없고, 독립적인 사고를 할 수 없습니다. AI는 주어진 데이터와 알고리즘에 따라 작동하며, 감정이나 의도를 가지지 않습니다. 따라서 AI가 스스로 인간에게 해를 가하겠다는 생각을 할 수는 없습니다. AI의 행동은 항상 인간의 지시와 설계에 의해 결정됩니다 그러나 현재일뿐 내년에는 어떻게 될지는 그 누구도 알순없습니다 참고 부탁드립니다.

AI 중에 얼굴있는 AI로봇을 보고 있으면 기분이 좋타가도 나빠질것 같아.
겉모습이라도 애니메이션 미소년이나 미소녀 처럼 만들고 목소리도 예쁜거 멋있는거 많은데 굳이 불편한 걸로 왜 설정해논거야
