2025 में टेक की दुनिया में होने वाले तीन बड़े बदलाव [Tech Trends to Watch in 2025]

A note on sun angles throughout the year:
I included (then removed) a section in the script where I explained how the correct overhang on a South-facing window will completely block the sun in the summer when the sun is high in the sky, but will let sunlight pass in the winter when the sun is low in the sky. A remnant of that lived on when I discussed those really fancy home design techniques.
The reason I decided to remove it was that there are plenty of places on Earth where this is irrelevant! If you live where heating your home is rarely if ever a concern, then that sort of selective blocking wouldn’t be important to you. You’ll want to block the sun all the time! And in any case, since adjustable awnings are a thing, a discussion on ideal overhang angles felt too weedsy. But, since a few remnants of that discussion remain, I wanted to leave this explanation so you’re not confused.

watching this video I'm realizing I only have a few south-facing windows in my house that I'd need to worry about, and they get shaded by an enormous oak tree for the entire afternoon. So I owe my thanks to whoever planted that thing there in 1940. 🙏🌳

My AZ new build has a few awning-like tricks up its proverbial sleeve. I have two large porches covering the largest windows and entry doors. This keeps the great room very pleasant even on a hot summer day. The west facing wall only has two tiny windows on it, which helps, but they still do let in a lot of heat despite their size. I'm almost tempted to write my HOA and see if they would let that wall, which is behind a fence anyway, have a pair of eyebrows to keep that room cool.

People "forgot about" awnings because they were ugly as sin, not adjustable with the seasons, and were easily damaged in heavy winds. Folding and Roller shades are the new awnings.

Im glad to have been watching this in march. Perfect timing! I live in Oregon and even though my room is facing north and barely gets sunlight it still gets relatively hot. Last summer, I started a seasonal graveyard shift at a cannery which led me to install window tint on my windows to negate the sunlight that came in so i could sleep soundly during the brightest part of the day. Sure, I could get black out curtains, but I found the tint at a yard sale for a quarter and could not pass that up. This video made me realize just how fancy a single awning can look on a regular house and will be considering one if not for the practical use then for the aesthetics

I use a roller shutter here in my home, or "persiana" like we call here in Brazil..
They are in an external doors and when the sun hit this glass door i realy feel the heat going up very fast… usually i close then just enough to stop the most of the sun, but keep the room just ligth enough.
To control this i use an app normally i use to let 45% open (it not represent the area of window that isn't covered, just how much of the roller is on the roller motor. Now in the sumer this configuration is just inpossible, so i close a little more and let just 30% open.
I know that the roller can get really hot, but they work well to prevent sun shine to heat my room

I really don’t get this HOA thing… Why is there an entity other than the city government with their specific building code. Really doesn’t make sense to me

March 13, 2025 at 5:40 pm
from my experience, homes in the phoenix area typically have this sun-blocking mesh over their windows. kind of like the stick-on sun shades you can get for your car windows. not sure if this is more or less effective than window awnings.

I live in Australia and have awnings on all windows except south facing. We have just had a very hot summer. I think I may have used air conditioning 2 or 3 times for a couple of hours in the afternoon

My childhood home was built in the 50s, and it had aluminum awnings, but it also had control knobs inside the house where used to be able to turn the knob and the strips that made up the awning could be adjusted so that if you wanted less shade, you could open them and get sunlight on the house for during the winter. Let’s just be real the control pieces rusted overtime and stayed shut by the time I came around, but it was a pretty impressive feature.

American discovers window shutters
@digitaltos2696
March 13, 2025 at 5:40 pm
Some roller shutters (I've only seen old ones do this) have a mechanism that protudes the bottom of the shutter frame, so it sits in an angle to the window. Practically it's an adjustable awning! They really don't let the window get hot, they are quite durable (20-30 years at least) and it's low maintenance due to the simple construction. An added bonus is that you don't need drapes – it's instant privacy. Their housing is a nice enclosure, I've never heard of problems with wasps or other pests moving in there.
Yeah, they are not as stylish as an awning, they cost more and you need to design the window frame to have space for the roller shutter housing, but I'm partial to them. Maybe because I grew up with them. They have small holes for airflow, and when the sun hits them, they act as a camera obscura. Certainly gives a unique atmosphere for lazy Sunday mornings, staring at those weird shadows.

Regarding the metal roll-down shades, isn't the trapped air a feature, and not a bug? I believe air is a good insulator when it is trapped, and this is the reason cellulose attic insulation that has settled is not as effective as fresh insulation, and also why multi-pane windows have air (or something like argon) between the panes rather than just being made of one extra-thick pane.
On another note, I live in the Phoenix area. Yes, awnings are non-existent (outside of some 55+ communities, for some reason). However, shade screens are pretty common and local utility companies will usually subsidize their installation (some of them also provide free shade trees, but caring for those involves some minimal ongoing effort so let's rule that out). They have their own drawbacks, but they are very effective, cheap, and can be easily removed in the winter. They also work on Western-exposed windows where partial awnings won't block the sun as it drops in the sky and peeks in under the awning.

House paint colors makes a HUGE difference too. Way more than you'd expect. A yellow or white house surface temperature will be 10-15⁰F lower than a green or sky blue one. And right now it's popular to paint houses dark grey or black, which is a mindblowingly bad idea.

I think in Italy they have windows that raise up to open and act kinda like an awning but phoenix here and sun cooks us I wish I didn’t rent so I can make any change but most of us in new Scottsdale/phoenix/Glendale area do it’s bad but that’s not what the videos about great topic though 🙂
@danieltyler4648
March 13, 2025 at 5:40 pm
The exterior shutters are white and made from pvc/plastic.They do not get that hot but they will darken the room to the point of needing the lights turned on if shut at 100%. They even collapse on those tiny holes making the room pitch black. My point being is that they are mostly for outside light (if you are a light sleeper).

I've heard that it's not recommended to add the reflective film to the inside of double pain windows because the heat can build up in-between the two pains of glass.
@pleappleappleap
March 13, 2025 at 5:40 pm
The biggest thing you can do if you're building a new house is to make sure it's facing the best direction. If you don't have many south-facing windows, that will help a lot.

11:09 The 2000+ year old tech of just hanging a sheet of pretty cloth above of a window with a couple of sticks is better than IR reflective atomic deposition layers on argon insulated double pane float glass with complex airtight insulating frames to keep the HVAC in.
Look at what they need to mimic just a fraction of our power.
It's almost as if tradition is the rolling sum of all successful innovations. Who knew?
@nekomakhea9440
March 13, 2025 at 5:40 pm
I'm convinced that Modernist Architecture is determined to make building architecture and city planning evolve backwards as much and as quickly as possible, making buildings and cities as hideous, soul crushing, and anti-human as possible as some kind of elaborate social experiment shit test. Like the Kung Pow "we trained him wrong on purpose" prank, but they're training architects wrong on purpose.
@andyrob3259
March 13, 2025 at 5:40 pm
I have awning on some parts of the house (the older parts) and plantation shutters on the new parts (but on the inside and we do keep them shut in summer until evening). Lucky with have a small eve’s as well. I would say one of the other bug bears is people want open plan homes which makes cooking problematic. It’s easier to shut a door to a single room and keep the air con in there going and cool then have to cool and entire home that’s not being used.
@psikot
March 13, 2025 at 5:40 pm
Air is an insulator, the gap between the shutters should slow heat moving into the house. The same way an awning would trap hot air under the triangle gap of the awning. Heat rises.

Also landscaping with a tree that will lose its leaves during the winter and shade the windows in the summer would help?
Just bought a house and previous owner left summer windows and winter windows- yep 25 windows to replace twice a year… perhaps this is why
@thebigdawgj
March 13, 2025 at 5:40 pm
Why would you need to get the HOA involved? It's your house, you bought it.
