अगर आप अपने लैपटॉप के नीचे छूकर देखेंगे तो आपको वो हिस्सा कुछ गर्म लगेगा. ईमेल को डिसप्ले करने से लेकर स्प्रेडशीट बनाने और कई दूसरे ऐप्स को चलाने के लिए लैपटॉप को करोड़ों कैल्कुलेशन करने पड़ते हैं जिसके लिए एनर्जी की ज़रूरत होती है. यही वजह है कि जब आप देर तक काम करते हैं तो लैपटॉप की बैटरी जल्दी डिस्चार्ज हो जाती है. अब कल्पना कीजिए दुनियाभर के उन लाखों करोड़ों कंप्यूटर्स की जो स्प्रेडशीट नहीं बना रहे बल्कि आर्टिफ़िशियल इंटेलिजेंस यानि (एआई) के लिए एल्गोरिथम बना रहे हैं. मगर एआई को विकसित करने के लिए करोड़ों कंप्यूटरों को चलाने के लिए और उन्हें ठंडा रखने के लिए एयरकंडिशनिंग के लिए बहुत अधिक ऊर्जा की ज़रूरत होगी? तो इस सप्ताह दुनिया जहान में हम यही जानने की कोशिश करेंगे कि क्या एआई को चलाने के लिए हमारे पास पर्याप्त बिजली है?
