Alton Brown is my idol. You did good! I've been air frying for a decade and this is the best video — useful and concise – that I have seen on the subject.

Clearly you don't own an air fryer…

So its a glorified heater fan

Air Fryers may not be a new process, but it certainly is a new subcatagory of appliance given how quickly it can cook small items.

I have a toaster oven with a convection setting. It predates the air fryer craze so its labeled the "turbo" setting. I love it, If I'm roasting brussels sprouts I turn on turbo 5 mins before it take them out for some crisp.

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

it calls out "360 degrees" beacuse lots of items that aren't meat call for exactly 360. not sure why

  8. @guatemalantomcat

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

I hate the name air fryer. I wish it was called a turbo oven or something with the word oven in it.

Shout out to the Netherlands who co invented CD, Bluetooth, DVD , wifi and invited the word Air Fryer ! The concept was developed by Dutch inventor Fred van der Weij, who aimed to create a healthier alternative to traditional frying methods. He collaborated with Philips, a Dutch multinational company, to refine and market the product. The first air fryer was introduced to the world in 2010 at a consumer electronics fair in Berlin, Germany.

I have the Ninja Air Fryer mega double that can heat one zone or both or removing the inner separator and its such a marvelous machine . Also have the Ninja speedi and i love it

The vibe of this channel is so 90's 00's and for you to say people haven't heard of air fryers they're so new is just such a nice subtle touch

I have a fancy 2 drawer ninja air frier, I feel th same way I have the Walmart one as well that is in this video and I like it better. I find myself not using any other mode on the ninja. Not to mention the ninja was more expensive. Definitely a area where more money does not mean better.

  16. @dominkbarnett9837

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

I just like it because it's like an oven you don't have to preheat and my oven takes like 10 minutes

  17. @MrNathaneasterling

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

The first two minutes of this video is some of my favorite content you have created. Nothing to do with the subject, although it is very interesting, your timing and your edits and the timing of your edits had me rolling.

  19. @Morbidmentality

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

I'm sure you at least considered, if not tried this, but in the off chance neither happened — It's rather straightforward to retrieve the files from a memory card that's been reformatted so long as new data hasn't been written to it afterwards. "Formatting" just reallocates all of the space on the card as "available" it doesn't actually erase anything.

  20. @linuxgeex

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

The air fryer in the video from Walmart is actually pretty good for the money, but its basket volume is small, which makes it really hard to make more than a snack-size meal because if you put more than that into it, there's no room for airflow. So you can make a single serving of poutine, but not enough fries to put on two plates with hamburgers. However you can buy two of them. Or ten of them for the price of one of the fancier dual-basket models lol.

    great content brother!

  22. @GeorgiaRidgerunner

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

ive not owned an fryer simoly because the things i cook generally require a stove top to cook when i make my biscuit bread i make enough to last for several days and the air fryer just isnt large enough for that

  23. @kenm724

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

I’ve had a Ninja Foodi countertop convection oven for a while now. It can’t be beat. We tossed the standalone toaster, air fryer, and toaster oven. We barely even use the large oven or microwave anymore lol

  24. @BigDoggeTom

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

I'm with you on the buttons. The machine doez one thing – blast food with hot air. How companies like Ninja have managed to turn "temperature" and "run time" into 14 buttons is beyond me

  25. @frankromero5581

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

    Thank you man

  26. @coolblue5929

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

That is not what convection means. You are talking about fan-forced. Convection is the natural movement of a fluid due to variations in temperature.

  27. @buoyantboysenberry

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

Regarding the inadequacy of toaster ovens for toasting bread, I humbly disagree. Indeed, only a weirdo would use one to simply toast bread, but the magic is that you can toast it with your favorite toppings to achieve melted godliness. Attempting to make toast with cheese and whatnot in a conventional toaster has undesirable consequences and is not recommended.

  28. @angelvrah

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

    Annoying

  29. @svenpetersen1965

    March 20, 2025 at 9:33 am

Your definition of an Air Fryer being a „small convection oven with a fancy name“ is very accurate 👍🏻I am not unhappy with the Air Fryer, that my wife has bought some years ago. Like all „kitchen wonder machines“, it has its pros and cons. It is quite good at producing crispiness in a short time. My Philips one is „cooking for dumbs“. Fill in your frozen snack, press start and the result is pretty good. My son has found some „fries for air fryers“, which are great. Better than the ordinary ones.

The cons are, it requires cleaning after almost every use. Also, it is (storage) space demanding, which is a restricted resource in most European households.
